Quick Recap of Summer and Back to School

We had a fabulous summer. It started off a little rocky, with Grace tripping as she ran down our hill and breaking her left arm. Poor dear. I feel like a horrible mom because I didn't think it was broken and didn't take her in all weekend (it happened on a Friday at 5pm). On Sunday, she was still babying it and holding it against her body, so we went in on Monday morning and sure enough it was broken right above the elbow. Unfortunately, we already had scheduled swimming lessons. It was kind of unproductive swimming session for Grace this year, but Addie became a fabulous swimmer and really excelled in her class.

Other fun summer activities included...Thrify's ice cream, the new splash pad, early morning runs and swimming.

Utah fun for the 4th of July. Hot air balloon launch, a fabulous freedom run, family time, and Carrie Underwood at the stadium of fire. Our nose bleed stadium of fire seats turned out to be the best seats.

Every Christmas my parents give the grandkids each a day with them wherever they want to go to do something fun one on one with Grandpa and Grandma. Most years they choose Lagoon, as they did this year and they loved it.

This spring/summer was busy for the Linford family. Amy and Chris got sealed in April. Jason married Esther and Jeffrey married Ashley on the same day a few weeks later. And the summer rounded out with one more wedding/sealing with Aaron marrying Rachael in Oakland last Saturday. We love all the new additions!

We went to Disneyland and to the beach with my family for the Wilkins Family Reunion. My kids love the beach and really love cousin time.

Jackson was in love with Cinderella, he kept throwing her kisses and trying to hold her hand.

Grace was so happy to sleep in the princess carriage bed that was in the house we rented.
My girls love the beach! Jackson liked the water, but as soon as he got tired and tried to put his thumb in his mouth he realized sand tastes nasty. Maybe next year, when he is walking instead of crawling.

I can't believe how incredibly fast this summer flew by. And now I have a 2nd grader. Grace will be doing a preschool that I team teach with other mothers of her friends. And Jackson is just going to work on walking and talking this year and be my buddy. Grace and Addie are such good friends, it is hard when Addie goes back to school. I think Grace asked me 15 times that first day if I would play with her and when Addie was coming back. They love taking their picture together on the first day of school. That has become their thing. They want to frame them all from each year and hang them in a row. Their own idea, but I think it sounds cute.

Addie had her 2nd eye surgery at the end of July. It was such a stressful day, because she was nervous and we were nervous, but also because our insurance was all messed up.  Jon's work changed it on July 1st and we didn't have new cards yet, so the pre-approval process was all done with the wrong insurance. Jon and I were both on the phone trying to get the fastest approval done in the history of ever, and stressing out a lot, almost deciding to cancel and drive the 2 hours back home (after fasting, prayers, blessings, preparation). Finally we decided to go ahead and hope the work we did with the insurance debacle was enough. The heartbreaking moment was when my sensitive little Addie came up to Jon and I (we were currently flipping out) and said, "Mom, I can tell you are really stressed right now, I am sorry I have to have surgery." She just wanted to be held and comforted because she was scared and we were not there for her. It was the worst. Finally we took her back to the pre-op and just stopped worrying about the money part and focused on her and helping her be ok. There was a little girl that was younger than Addie that sat across from her going into her 5th surgery. Addie told us if that girl could do 5 surgeries she could certainly be brave for hers. She was very brave. It was a tougher recovery than I remember with her first surgery (she was only 5 months old then). But we went to the dr for a follow up today and he said that the eye (the left one is the one he cut the outer muscle on and straightened) is looking very aligned right now so that is encouraging. There are no signs of infection and he said we will know more in a month at her next follow up. So we are still praying and hoping that this will be her last.

I always get a peek of your world on insta, I was thrilled to see more of the pictures I've missed. You make life grand! I am thankful surgery went well, bones healed, and that you are my friend!
