34 Years Alive and 10 Years Married

Two weeks ago I had my 34th birthday. I was pretending like it wasn't coming. 34 feels so old. It really was a great day though. I was home bound with a bunch of sick kids with fevers all day, but Jon and the kids really made me feel special anyways.
Never been so glad I have a neubulizer, Jacks kept waking up from coughing fits and breathing treatments really helped. One night Grace was having an asthmatic cough that we were only able to calm her by singing to her and calming her breathing with a breathing treatment.

Back to my birthday, Jon brought me home my favorite sandwich, the Ruben from the Red Rooster. Since our lunch date couldn't happen with our feverish children. It was SO YUMMY!

Jackson loves taking selfies, he was snuggling with me for my birthday gift.

My birthday date was to make Jon take me to the Cooper Ball. It is a is a charity function for the hospital with the richies of the valley, but I think it is fun to get dressed up once in a while so I make him take me. His boss always pays for a table anyways.

We decided to do a weekend getaway for our 10th wedding anniversary, Jon's parents agreed to watch the kids for us. As I was packing up, I came downstairs to this, poor boy was so tired. Too bad his cute sister "checked" on him 10 minutes later and woke him up. It made our drive to Phoenix super fun with a cranky boy.

For our anniversary date, we decided to do many of the things that Jon and I always talked about doing in Phoenix, but never made time for. First stop was the best pizza place, it is called Pizzeria Bianco. So yummy, and it is in Heritage Square downtown, so it was a cute atmosphere too.

After dinner we walked over to the Diamond backs game. Jon loved going to baseball games growing up, so he told me he wanted to take me to one since we first started dating, since I had never been. Well 10 years later I went to my first one. It was lots of fun. The lady in front of us, asked us if we were newlyweds. Haha, we told her about our 3 kids and that we were on our 10 year anniversary date. She asked us if we were 17 when we got married. She was probably just being nice, but it made us feel good.

They closed the roof half way through because of rain and wind. Which sadly also made them cancel the fireworks after the game.

At the game we purchased a churro dog, it was a churro inside a doughnut, covered in ice cream and chocolate and caramel sauce. It was not very good at all, but an experience we will remember. Haha.

After the game we were walking back to the condo we were staying at and realized we didn't have to hurry back to anyone. So we spent sometime exploring cool buildings in downtown Phoenix. Like the one above that had glass floors and strange bathrooms. We went and got appetizers in the compass restaurant, which is on top of the Hilton and it is circular and spins slowly so that if you stay an hour you see the whole 360 degree view of the city, it was cool.

The condo we stayed at.

We stayed up as late as we wanted and slept in. I woke up at 7 like any other morning, but miraculously I was able to go back to sleep and we slept in until 10am. I haven't done that since before I had kids. It was so luxurious. But breakfast at the Breakfast Club was definitely the highlight for Jon. He is OBSESSED with the orange juice there. And the food, was AMAZING.

I don't like biscuits and gravy, but his meal was on an entirely different level than any I had ever had. So good.

We went back to our condo and worked out at the gym there together as long as we wanted. And I did a little shopping without kids with me. Things that we hardly get to do with our little ones around.
Our weekend together was so great. I love Jon a lot, and wish I could spend every waking moment with him always. 24 hours wasn't nearly long enough, but it was definitely so good and needed to be alone and reconnect. Life gets so busy and it is hard to make the time to do that with busy jobs, callings, endless housework, busy children. But is was so fun, and it is important to make time to do it. Next time we need a lot longer...I am thinking a week cruise. Who wants to watch my kids?

I will! Glad you got away...I think all parents should take at least a weekend away once a year.

I will take them too! You might have to bring them here. We aren't as convenient as grandma, but we would love to have them. Once a year is a must!
