Spring Fling Thing

Addie has been begging to go to the Spring Fling to ride the Ferris wheel. Spring Fling is a huge carnival put on by the University and happens to be at a horse race track right by our house one weekend every April. So I promised her that we would go on Saturday. Unfortunately, Saturday happened to be raining and a little bit chilly for AZ standards (it was only 50 degrees, which may sound warm to some of our northern friends). I bundled everyone up and we decided to walk, so as not to pay for parking, and Jon kept telling me that no one would be there and that it would be closed. I couldn't believe that would be right, it wasn't that cold and the rain was a slight drizzle....it felt good to be out walking in it. But he warned me that Arizonans stay in when it is that kind of weather (anything but pure sun basically). I didn't believe him and I stubbornly led us on. He just humored me and went because he is nice like that. On our way there a car rear ended another. Jon told me it was because we were such a spectacle out in the rain with two kids and the driver was busy looking at us instead of driving...not sure I believe that.
When we finally arrived at the carnival, most of the rides weren't going. Apparently some of them aren't safe to run in the rain. Whatever. We walked around and got muddy and then Addie went in the house of mirrors and decided she was done since the Ferris wheel wasn't running in the rain. As we left, they closed the carnival because there were only 10 people there. Pathetic. I am thoroughly unimpressed by Arizonans and their weather stamina...it was seriously a little mist/drizzle. We came home and had hot chocolate instead, and I believe that may have been Addie's favorite part.

Haha. Yes we don't know how to handle anything but heat.
