Ready

I had to laugh as I left the library yesterday and heard a group of tactless teenagers that I walked by saying to each other, "She is so big". Because it took me a second to realize they were talking about me....ha ha. I am pretty huge now. I am to the point that only like 2 shirts fit/cover my belly all the way, indicator that we are pretty much there.

The version we had a week ago was unfortunately not successful. Although it hurt way worse than I ever expected it would. I was also there for like 8 hours...thank goodness for a good friend that watched Addie all day for us...what a lifesaver. The reason I was there so long, was because I was having a lot of contractions when I first got there and some of them were affecting the babies heart rate, so I had to wait until that calmed down until they were willing to try to turn her. Then the doctor kept getting called away for emergencies. This doctor called herself the "version queen", but despite her best (and I mean most painful) efforts, she couldn't get the baby to flip. The doctor thinks the earlier contractions just got her wedged in my pelvis and she was pretty much stuck. Also I kept having contractions every time they tried to turn her even though they gave me two doses of the uterus relaxation drugs. It was a little scary for us because after one attempt, it took them a while to find the heart beat and when they did, it was very slow. But it quickly came back up...she was just shocked for a minute from all the pressure that was being put on her. Poor baby.

Addie and I have been working hard on other methods of turning her...lots of hand stands in the pool, lying at 45 degree angles, and playing dogs or bears on all fours...all to no avail. So we have a c-section appointment for Monday morning. It is so weird to me to know when she is coming. I have to admit it is also a little bit nice to be able to plan.

Jon is currently taking his last final for the semester...hooray! Here goes nothing. Wish us luck and hopefully my next post will be pictures of our little stubborn sweetie.

Love people's comments! I was hearing those comments, "whoa, you must be ready!" at like 6 months. Awesome. Sorry they didn't have luck turning her, but yes, it is lucky that you can plan:). And what I can say--take full advantage of your time in the hospital to rest. The first two days hurt like a banshee after a c-section, but the recovery after that isn't too bad. Yay for baby Maurine coming soon!

That is one stubborn little girl to not turn around after so much prodding and pain! That being said, we are very excited for Monday and can't wait for her grand and planned entrance!
