The Key

So this is a key. Well, what is left of one at least. Luckily it is a key that has little or no value to me anymore, but resided on my key chain for the last 4 years anyways. It actually goes to the car I drove in college, which my brother AJ now drives. Also funny story, it would start the car I drove in high school as well, which was nice because I only had to carry one key to start either car, but also a little unnerving...I mean they were the same make and model, but almost 10 years apart in age...Toyota didn't do a great job at varying their keys I guess...or was it just a weird coincidence? Anyways, to my brother Mark's sadness, the swamp rat (as he affectionately called the car I drove in high school) is no longer with us. But this versatile key has been very useful to me once again this week. It all started with a thought one day to scrub my floors on my hands and knees. I don't do this frequently, but everyone should do it occasionally just to make sure your floors are good and clean. Well since we moved into a new townhouse, we have lived here like 2 weeks total, and I have probably mopped my tile floor twice the normal way, and supposedly the whole house was professionally cleaned prior to our moving in. So when I got down and started really scrubbing my floor, I was disgusted to find that the grout of my floor is a light brown rather than a dark brownish black I had assumed. Eww sick. It was like no one had ever scrubbed the floors before. Seriously nasty! So this is where the key came in handy, whenever there was a part that wouldn't come off I had to chisel it off by scrapping at it with the key. That is right, this key was filed to a nub, because the grout on my floors was absolutely unlivably filthy! It makes me want to vomit just thinking we lived here a whole 2 weeks with them like that. I pity, and am slightly disgusted, the previous tenant (and who knows how many before her) lived here with them like that. Anyways I am through ranting, I just had to get that off my chest and show you the key, because who knew that it would wear down like that? It is also a little sad, because I couldn't start the swamp rat or old blue if ran across them again. But maybe my Honda key will start other Hondas...we will have to try and see.

Ew gross, but I love cleaning projects like that, it gives such a sense of accomplishment! Way to go, sorry about the loss of the car.

I've never known a key to be so multi-tasking! Very impressive!
Sorry about your gross floors. Hopefully they will now stay light brown for a long long time!

That is funny because my toyota key would start my sister's as well. Same make and year and it always kind of freaked me out so thank you for this post. It was kind of un nerving for me too at the time. Sorry about the floors!! But that is good the key followed through for you.

I think you should frame it.
