Labor Day

I have been neglecting my blog as of late. Jon started up his last year of law school and the beginning of the year has been busy. He came home the other day and announced that this may be his busiest semester yet...fantastic. I just had to laugh because I really believed people when they told me the first year is the worst. It seems he has only gotten busier as time has gone by. This year he has a lot going on. He is the president of the LDS law club, in the EQ presidency, a writing fellow, and who knows what else. I have enough going on myself. Two kids is kind of rocking my little world and I just got a demanding calling and I am supposedly in charge of the wives half of the LDS law club (we will see how much I have time to put together). So labor day was a welcome day of family fun and rest from our busy lives.
We started out by going to the children's museum. It would have been more fun if half of the city hadn't been there with us. It was a free day for labor day, and it was so crowded. Addie still had fun. Then we went and had Sonoran hot dogs. Apparently it is a must do for Tucson. Check. (I am not a hot dog fan, but I gave it a shot for the experience). I would have gotten a picture, but Grace was angry she wasn't getting grub too, so we had to eat and run. While Jon did a little homework catch up, and Grace napped, Addie and I went on an outing to Trader Joe's. We saw the giant crab spider that lives somewhere in our car...and yes that is as disturbing as it sounds. We think it lives under the hood of our car, and that is why we only see it when we are driving somewhere. It hides and then comes out when the engine gets hot. Anyways it is scary. It is seriously huge and might cause an accident one of these days. I think yesterday it actually flew off the window while I was driving (we often think it does and then we see it again)...I hope it is really gone. While I was browsing the isles of TJ's I was realizing I am actually going to miss Tucson. Not so much the landscape or feeling like we are in Mexico at times, but I am definitely going to miss TJ's and my Sunflower Market that is imports Utah peaches in the fall and always has Utah cinnamon bears...a little piece of home away from home. And of course H&M that just opened in the mall 2 minutes from my house....sigh! We are actually grateful that we have a job lined up though. Jon got offered a job for after he graduates at the firm he interned this summer. I am so proud of him. He works so hard. I knew they would hire him. There aren't a lot of his classmates with jobs lined up yet, so we are feeling really happy that he has one. It is really pretty there and closer to my family, so that will be nice. But I am going to have to get used to the small town living...meaning no mall, Target or the a fore mentioned stores. Jon is hoping that will be beneficial to our budget, tee hee perhaps it will.
Anyways that was quite the tangent, back to labor day, we finished it up with BBQ ribs and homemade ice cream. It was delicious and a wonderful day together. Now here is to hoping that we see Jon again before the next holiday.

congrats to your hubby on having a job lined up. that was a big relief for us when jared graduated, although i wasn't happy with having to move to chicago. however, a job is a job, especially nowadays. Good luck with small town living....i am so glad i have never had to do that. you will get really savvy with online shopping soon enough! :)

So great to hear from you and big congrats on the job! That should take a load off this next year and make your transition pretty easy considering that you've lived there now so you'll know what to expect. Unfortunately for Jon and luckily for you, online shopping has been a dear, dear friend of mine. Not because I don't have stores close by, but because it's sooo much easier. Anywho, good luck with your pet spider--yuck!

I honestly just barely saw the episode of Man vs Food where he goes to Tuscan to eat Sonoran Hot Dogs! I thought they looked tasty! The spider thing is totally creepy. Just knowing something is there sneaking around is enough to give me the chills.
Congrats on the job and on the darn cute girls!

Take it from someone who did the small town thing, you don't spend less it just gets a little trickier (don't tell Jon). You will become an especially savvy online shopper and when you go out of town you have to do major shopping trips. It is nice to do it all in one trip, but the price tag at the end of the day always looks uglier than spending it over time. Grace looks so different! I have to come visit.

Hi, sister. Always good for me to catch up on your blog and find out things I should already know. What calling is this for you? Jon is a writing fellow? I'm a naughty sister.
